JAPANESE GRILL

In a space that evokes an old sake factory, Robata is born from the encounter of izakayas—traditional Japanese bars—and the aromatic taste of robatayaki. Tradition and avant-garde complement each other in harmony within an eclectic atmosphere, where rustic and industrial concepts converge.

The heart of the restaurant, the open kitchen in full view of the diners, serves as a stage that presents a story in four acts: starring fire, water, steam, and ice. High-rise ceilings give spaciousness to a sober, cozy atmosphere where the exquisiteness of the kanji—written on several materials—makes for subtle sophistication.

The scent of charcoal merges with the fragrant wood, present from the façade—with its charred texture—to the comfortable tables and chairs in dark hues, the columns, and the ceiling beams. When it comes to furniture, touches of leather, metal, and textiles harmonize the ensemble.

The sober color palette evokes a warm atmosphere, with permanent references to glowing embers through soft, worn hues of red, brown and black that contrast with the Asian calligraphy painted on the terrazzo flooring in shades of white and gray.

By combining the subtlety of the Eastern world with hand-made Mexican manufacture, several elements that were custom-designed for Robata are featured in its decor: blown glass, ceramics, and textiles.
