Witnessing and experiencing the essence of a community — its people and food, for instance — are part of the common thread that defines the concept of San Simón Bakery, located in the small town of San Simón El Alto, Valle de Bravo.
Inspired by the country life, MYT+GLVDK developed the global interior design, custom-made furnishing, branding, and visual merchandising strategy reflected in a clean aesthetic that paved the way for a welcoming bakery, a store of local products, and a pizzeria.
Concepts such as the imperfect beauty of the Wabi-Sabi — which combines minimalism with the warmth of natural elements — invite the guest to sit, stay, and enjoy the authentic flavors of freshly baked bread, the sweetness of honey produced by local beekeepers, as well as the freshness of seasonal ingredients.
The layout is divided into three areas: an indoor bread, coffee, and local products shop and two outdoor spaces, an organic garden for harvesting own consumption ingredients, and a pizzeria with a wood-fuelled oven.
Along with a color palette that emphasizes beige and green tones with shades of brown and orange, natural resources -- such as logs, volcanic stone, and concrete -- harmonize in a cozy atmosphere with functional furniture, including wooden benches and tables with cushions in rustic textiles.
